Downtown Portland is slated to welcome a unique new mid-rise hotel in summer of 2020 designed by DLR Group Architecture in partnership with Graves Hospitality and KCB Realty. The 12-story Moxy Hotel in Portland has a small 7,500 square foot building footprint but will encompass 71,232 square feet of interior space. The Moxy Hotel will feature 197 guest rooms and a slew of modern amenities. While the guest rooms boast floor-to-ceiling glass walls with views of Mt. Hood, the ground floor will seamlessly integrate into the surrounding lively Pearl District streets with large operable glass walls, a bar and lounge area, and food carts.

Starting June of 2019, the Conco Companies began providing a variety of commercial concrete services for the Moxy Hotel project. Conco was contracted as a result of a competitive qualified bidder selection process which evaluated their past experience, skilled teams, their record of safety on projects, competitive cost, and overall approach to the project. Additionally, given their reputation for solving the challenges presented by any size project, Conco is well equipped to overcome the obstacles that come with downtown construction and a constrained job site. For their part, Conco will provide concrete pumping, concrete reinforcement, concrete formwork, and shotcrete services.

Sea-Tac-Update-The-Conco-Companies.jpg

The Conco Companies is returning to Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac) Airport once again teaming up with Clark Construction. Conco’s Northwest division will provide concrete services to build the 450,000 sq. ft. International Arrivals Facility (IAF) building on the east side of the South Terminal Expansion (Concourse A). The new Arrivals facility will help the airport manage the increasing demand for international flights. The project also includes a 900 ft long aerial passing bridge over the existing taxi lane at a height of 85 feet (allowing planes to travel beneath) to connect arriving international passengers at the south satellite terminal to the top of Concourse A and the new space.

The aerial bridge components will be prefabricated off-site and installed within a seven-day time frame. The construction activities are taking place in an active area of the airport, requiring an additional level of coordination – and patience – for all involved. Upcoming project milestones include (all scheduled to be complete by the end of February):

  • PW-1 Concourse A Concrete Core Bridge Support Completion
  • IAF Slab on Grade Completion
  • PW-4 South Satellite Concrete Core Bridge Support Completion
