Conco is currently working on THE CONFIDENTIAL: a 29 story, cast in place tower in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood. Partnering with Exxel Pacific as the General Contractor, Conco is helping to bring this mixed-use building to completion by providing concrete pumping and placing, shotcrete and reinforcing. With over 22,000 CY of concrete planned to be poured, we anticipate topping out the tower in November of 2023. This project will demand over 4 million pounds of rebar that we will fabricate at our state-of-the-art rebar facility in Rochester, WA. In the end, THE CONFIDENTIAL will contain 375,000 square feet of deck and we are thankful to RPM for their support on the rebar installation and Cadman for their readymix supply.

As noted by Superintendent Bill Lessard, “This crew came off of what could be called a mega project at Building X (a Facebook project) so it’s kind of nice to get back to the basics of a rinse and repeat tower while they’re still firing on all cylinders.  It’s a great crew, the core of which have been together 8 years. It’s always a privilege and a pleasure to be charged with such a competent crew who work so well together”.  This is the third tower project for Bill with Conco, and the whole team benefits from his expertise.

THE CONFIDENTIAL, inspired by the work-from-home impacts of the pandemic, will feature larger units that have dedicated workspaces. Most units will also have a balcony for outside space. This unique approach will result in less occupants of the building and the hope is that it will encourage a sense of community amongst the residents. Developed by Security Properties, this project will contain four levels of below-grade parking in addition to the 29 levels of mixed use above; including commercial/retail, additional parking, office, residential and amenity levels. This building is sure to be a fantastic addition to the Belltown neighborhood and Conco looks forward to this next project with Exxel Pacific!

The concrete scope of Esterra Park Block 3 is slated for completion June 2020.

The Conco Companies is providing concrete services for Esterra Park Block 3. Conco services include concrete finishing, pumping, reinforcement, formwork, construction trucking, and shotcrete. The concrete pour for Block 3 began in June 2019 and is expected to be completed June 2020.

Located in Redmond, Washington, The Esterra project is a 30-acre master planned community adjacent to Overlake Light Rail Station and the Microsoft Campus. It’s built on an open-space concept, where occupants can live, work, and socialize year-round. The project will expand roughly 235,000 square feet of additional office space.

The Conco Companies is meeting the challenges of implementing a structure that is designed to maximize lower level parking. We are pouring concrete for three lower levels of parking with seven levels of office space above. Conco recently finished work on adjacent Blocks 5 and 6A. In addition, we are part of the construction team on an upcoming project for Blocks 2A/2B.

The Esterra Park Block 3 project represents a segment of a large-scale plan to develop the area, which will be known as Overlake Village Station.

Conco’s mission is to be the best supplier of commercial concrete services in the Western United States and to bring experience, expertise and quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand facilities to better serve the growing market for public works projects, commercial, educational, parking structures, and other construction development. Sea-Tac Update -The Conco Companies

Conco is teaming up once again with Clark Construction. Conco’s Northwest division is returning to Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac) Airport to provide concrete services for the LEED Silver International Arrivals Facility (IAF) building on the east side of the South Terminal Expansion (Concourse A). The new Arrivals Facility will help the airport manage the increasing demand for international flights. The IAF will host gates A3-A14 in an elevated sterile corridor, raised nearly 32 feet above the apron level, with approximately 45,000 square feet of floor space.

In addition to the overall 450,000 Sq. Ft. of the IAF, the project also includes a 900 ft long aerial passing over the existing taxi lane at a height of 85 feet (allowing planes to travel beneath), to connect arriving international passengers at the South Satellite Terminal to the top of Concourse A and the new space. The bridge components will be prefabricated off-site and installed within a seven-day time frame. The construction activities are taking place in an active area of the airport, requiring an additional level of coordination – and patience- for all involved. Upcoming project milestones include:

  • PW-1 Concourse A Concrete Core Bridge Support Completion
  • IAF Slab on Grade Completion
  • PW-4 South Satelite Concrete Core Bridge Support Completion

Tacoma Convention Center Hotel Update - The Conco Companies

“This estimated $150 million hotel and mixed-use project will contribute to downtown Tacoma’s renaissance significantly,” according to a city staff report. “It is one of the first major foreign direct investments on publicly owned land in Tacoma. The project will generate substantial tax revenue, create about 1,000 construction jobs and at least 200 full-time jobs, and enable the GTCC to attract larger conventions to enhance Tacoma’s economic vitality.”

The Tacoma Convention Center Hotel, developed by Yareton Investment & Management, will offer 300 rooms in a new Mariott branded hotel and retail spaces. Expected to open in 2020, the 4-star hotel will rise 23 stories, include 304 guest rooms, and will be connected to the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. It will also feature a 10,000 square foot grand ballroom, retail space, and other function rooms. The hotel will serve as the anchor hotel for the convention center, which has struggled recently to land larger convention and trade shows because of the lack of nearby hotel rooms.

The Conco Companies NW Division is working a 7-day cycle in the tower, pouring the vertical the same day as the slab is poured, with a self-climbing core form system (supplied by FCI). The tower portion, consisting of the hotel, continues to L23 + a cantilevered concrete roof. The project will utilize 5,550,000 lbs. of rebar, 25,000 cubic yards of concrete, and 430,000 linear feet of post tension cables. Conco is scheduled to pour-out the project by June 2019.

The Conco Companies’ mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western U.S. and to bring expertise and incomparable quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand our facilities to better serve the growing market for commercial, educational, parking structures, public works projects, and other development. Contact us to learn more about the services from one of the most trusted shotcrete contractors.

Center Steps Project - The Conco Companies - mat pour (2)

The Conco Companies is providing concrete services for the Center Steps project in Seattle, Washington. Located in the shadow of the Space Needle and across the street from major arts venues including McCaw Hall, the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Cornish Playhouse and Seattle Repertory Theatre, Center Steps is part of a bustling new community bridging Seattle Center from residential uptown. The location provides a walkable commute to major employers including Amazon, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Facebook.

The site will have two mixed-used buildings, one with eight stories (83 units) and the other with seven stories (186 units), and 11,239 sq. ft. of retail space. The L-shaped development will include a 6,000 sq.ft. public plaza with a pedestrian pathway between the two buildings. The concrete scope of the project consists of two below-grade parking levels with parking for 182 vehicles, a retail and commercial space with an extensive courtyard at ground level, and three concrete levels of residential above-grade with wood framing to the 8th story above the concrete structure. Due to the size of the footprint for the two apartment buildings, pouring the slab was spaced across three Saturdays. The concrete footprint pour totaled 5,425 cubic yards of concrete covering 44,250 sq.ft.

New tenants will be able to choose from studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments and a variety of in-unit finishes including modern, casual, or higher-end finishing as well as air conditioning. There will also be a green rooftop deck with indoor and outdoor lounge spaces to relax and take in the city.  The development will bring more affordable housing options to the city. Through Seattle’s Multifamily Tax Exemption program, 20 percent of the units will be priced at 65-85% of area median income, and under the Mandatory Housing Affordability rules, the project will contribute $7 million to off-site affordable housing. Center Steps is scheduled to open in Summer 2020.

Conco’s mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western United States and to bring experience, expertise, and quality to each project.  We continue to upgrade and expand facilities to better serve the growing market for public works projects, commercial, educational, parking structures, and other construction development.  Please contact us to learn more about our high-performance, precision-engineered fabricated rebar in the Portland area.
