Lightweight Concrete: Confoam™ is Customized Per Project
Cellular lightweight concrete offers an economical option for a wide variety of applications and can save your project both time and money. The Conco Companies’ proprietary Confoam™ is customized for each project and is ideal for filling any void such as narrow and unstable trenches or underneath slabs, as a sub-base for highways, and a soil stabilizer. Confoam™ is a “greener” concrete with its relatively low carbon footprint and also eliminates the need to place the crew in the excavation area, making it is a safer alternative to traditional fill methods.
Lightweight Concrete Mixes Vary Depending on the Application
The extremely fluid nature of Conco’s Confoam™ makes it easily pumpable and mix designs are determined by the strength required of the concrete once it has cured. Lightweight mixes may vary from only portland cement to a combination of sand-cement ratios. If a higher compressive strength is required, the mix will consist of fine and/or coarse aggregate to produce a stronger concrete with a higher density. Also fly ash and admixtures may be added to a lightweight concrete mix. The high percentage of foam entrained into the plastic mortar provides the light concrete with an air content that is typically between 40 to 80 percent of the total volume.
Conco’s Confoam™ offers:
- Ease of Placement – With low density and flowability, Confoam™ is easily pumped at low pressure over long distances. Self-leveling and filling every void, the material does not require mechanical compaction.
- Lightweight – As cellular concrete is made by replacing stone aggregate with air bubbles, it is lightweight but stronger than compacted fills or soil.
- Cost-effective –Confoam™ is less expensive to produce and place and also reduces costs associated with transportation and storage.
- Permeable or non-permeable – Depending on mix, foam concrete can be designed to prevent water from penetrating or to allow water to drain through it.
